Pork Chops Modenese (variation)

Provided By: Sean
Source: Allrecipes.com
Style: Italian
Type: Main

Serves: 2
Serveing Size: 1 chop and 1/2 the sauce
Cal/serving: 565

Ingredients:
  • 2 pork chops
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dry basil
  • 1/2 tsp dry thyme
  • 1/4 medium onion

Instructions:
  1. Heat the oil on medium heat
  2. Add the pork chops and cook for about 10 minutes, flipping once to brown both sides
  3. Add the garlic, wine, salt, pepper, basil, thyme, and onion
  4. Simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes, or until the pork chops are done and the sauce thickens

Notes:

This is a variation on the recipe from Allrecipes.com because 1) I was out of rosemary, which is the only dry spice called for other than salt and pepper, and 2) I thought an onion would be nice to add to the sauce. You can do this with 4 pork chops by upping the spices a bit (maybe 3/4 to 1 tsp each for the basil and thyme).

Calorie count based on non-trimmed pork chops (I like the fat!). Lean only chops would probably drastically reduce the calorie count. You can also try with less oil.
